The Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition has had an annual statewide conference since 1980 that addresses issues pertinent to parents in education, social welfare, immigration, language, and culture. Over the years, conference attendance has grown from 26 to well over 1,000 participants.
The Parent Conference:
- Embraces the entire family
- Is ethnic and culturally diverse
- Promotes parent-school partnerships
- Empowers parents to take an active role with their children
- Is fun and educational
- Childcare is provided for children 3 to 10 years old
In 1993, several young people implemented the First Annual Youth Institute. Ever since, this event has taken place alongside the parent conference. The Youth Institute is planned and organized by young leaders who are elected to serve on the CSPC Board of Directors.
